The Domestic Violence Advisory Council of Kern was established in 1999 by the Kern County Board of Supervisors and placed under the umbrella of the Kern County Network for Children (KCNC) as an issues-based collaborative. As a collaborative, partnering together, our Education/Conference committee has successfully brought in speakers and trainers who can assist our community in “Coordinating a Community Response to Family Violence”.

Each year since 1999, DVAC has held conferences which serve to educate the community about issues specific to domestic violence. The collaborative partners recognize that promoting healthy, non-abusive families and relationships is not the sole responsibility of the domestic violence service providers. Successful intervention depends on a consistent coordinated community response designed to hold offenders accountable and make victims safer.
